Default Flywheel...? ( yes i searched damnit)

Alright guys... I searched & didnt find what i was looking for. Heres the deal, i need a new clutch, flywheel, & slave cylinder.

I have an H22 in my accord. (94lx coupe) My entire clutch system gave out on me... I need a new flywheel & im contumplating whether i should go lighter... or stay stock. If i was to go lighter i would go with a 12lb. wheel. (8 is too light)

Heres my ?.. has anyone on here with a 12lb. flywheel encountered any problems? Ive read that daily driving needed some taking used to... but i mean what takes getting used to? Im not trying to have my car jump on me as im easing out the clutch or stall out at idle. What are your experiences guys? I want a nice ride... i dont want to compromise the quality of my ride... i just dont know if i should remain stock or go lightened.

any input is appreciated.

I'd go lighter. The only thing is the lighter the fiywheel, it puts a little more strain on other stuff. But that shouldn't be a problem. The lightweight flywheel can make the tranny work a little harder. And also (in VERY rare cases) If you have a habit of just driving the **** out of your car, i.e. constantly bumping redline, etc. you could damage the crank which means new engine. But that will never happen unless you abuse your car. A friend of mine and I bought a Toyota MR2 and dropped in an exeddy lightweight flywheel and the crank actually snapped in half. Found out later that the previous owner ALWAYS bumped redline. So that cost us another 4000 dollar engine. So, bottom line, if you've taken good care of your car, you'll have no problems

well i ran a clutchmasters 8lb flywheel for approx 1 1/2 years and have had no problems with it...i know you said you did not want to go that light but i dont really see why not...i experienced no noticible loss in torque with it and no driveability problems whatsoever, it drove just like stock...

Do you have an H22 or the stock mototr? What gains did you notice with it?

have u ever driven a car with a 12 pounder? u should drive one first to see how fast the revs move. going from stock to an 8 pounder is gonna give u a hard time. eventually u will get used to it probably tho. it will give u a hard time driving tho if u never experienced one before. anyway performance gains... i kinda felt it in the mid-high range... but i have an f22 motor... not h22

i have used the 8lb and 12 lb on my h22 in my accord, and never had an issue with etierh of them. i am running a 12 lb right now, and still ahve my 8lb clutchmasters flywheel sitting around. teh CM flywheel was great until a clutch failed and a spring popped out and scratched it up aroudn the bolt hols, i got a new flywheel and then learned there is probably nothing structurally wrong with my CM one....
