removing my ABS
I have a '91 GS, i'm going to remove my ABS system while my motor is out to remove dead weight.
as far as I know , i can just buy the non-abs hard lines from acura and directly
bolt them in after i remove all my abs parts. has anyone done this before, do you know of any additionial parts i need? all help is appreciated, TIA

You should try removing weight another way, once you get rid of the abs, if you slam on your breaks at high speeds.... bye bye tires. I have a non-ABS Integra and it happened to me, your wheels lock without it.
I have heard that if you pull your e-break up two notches and drive for like a mile the ABS will disengage until you restart the car. If not you could just pull the fuse if you dont want the ABS to engage. Other then that I dont see why you would need to remove that unless you have your entire insides of your car stripped out along with your AC, stereo, antenna motor, wiper blades, sun roof motor, ect..... it wont make your car that much faster.
The only reason someone would not want ABS is because if you just tap the brake the ABS engages which causes lag time and takes little longer to get back up to speed then regular brakes. Just disengage the ABS if you want to race.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I should have stated that the ABS system does not function as it is. I'm not ripping out a perfectly good abs system, but rather one that has been passive for the last year. Honestly , I dont miss it a damn bit
, and just consider the pump and lines to be an eyesore. I have experienced no negative drawbacks from not haveing the abs.
as for the rest of the car, it has no power steering ,ac, rear interior, radio, antenna, or just about any creature comfort except for the sunroof and the power windows. the car is a semi race- semi street car, b20turbo. and i honestly dont see the need to keep nonfunctioning parts in my car espescially if i can directly swap in non-abs hard lines from acura. it should be easy since the motor is out currently out, and i have ready access to a lift. I dont feel the difficulty of the labor to be nearly as much of an issue as i do the part compatability

Well since your case is clearly stated that your pushing for weight I would just remove it and install the hard line. every pound gone is better then nothing.
You could probably lose a few pounds to. J/k
gl on your removal.
Have you purchased a CF hood and fiberglass fenders? Should probably not have a spolier as well.

thats true, i tried it, but the downside is when the abs light comes on, your vtec wont engage and the cars rev limit drops to 6000rpm, obviously a built in safety feature in case the abs fails. my cars a jdm one but maybe usdm cars are different</TD></TR></TABLE>
you sure it was from your abs light being on? the brakes and engine have nothing to do with each other. this is the first time i'm hearing this...
