Will carpet fade if I leave it outside?

Sup guys. I have black carpet from a 92 si and I dont have room for it in my garage yet. I pulled it out because i'm getting ready to paint but I want to know if the carpet is going to fade. I have it laid out on my porch and I know better than to fold it up and put it away...

It's been pretty sunny outside about 80-90 deg... will this cause the carpet to fade?

prolonged periods of exposure to direct sunlight will result in fading.

put a tarp over it or something.
