Default Oil pressure swith

I get 2 long flashes and 2 short one = 22 meaning Oil pressure switch. This a Pr3 ecu on a 1gen B16A1, and the check engine light stays on, when Iam driving the car. I know Vtec does not engage, I checked the oil level, and its on the 1st dot on the dip stick my question is this, is it normal that the ECu to throw a code and the CEL stay on if I don't have oil? I know Vtec wont engage for a fact though. Why would the ECu throw a code and CEL stay on?

So the code just decided to come on, right? Change the oil, and reset the ecu. Yes, the ecu can throw a code if the oil press is not there, or the level is low

thanks for the reply, Ill change the oil tomorrow and see what happens. I mean the weird thing is, I have been on oil like that before, couple if times. During those times the CEL didn't come on, and the ecu wasn't throwing any codes, unless Iam leaking oil from the oil pan somewhere which I don't know about, I mean I have change the oil at the right time 190,000 miles now its on 191,000 and low on oil?

1g b16's have the tendency to burn a little oil...dont even sweat it...it is good to constantly check all uir fluid levels just to make sure u dont ruin something...check the plug dor ur vtec solenoid...make sure that it is not loose...check to see if ur getting power to the solenoid as well...there is always the chance of an open in the wiring...but yeah usually the cause of a cel 22 is low oil...did u say it only goes up to the first dot? thats not enough oil man...technically a b16 should hold 4.2 quarts...i say fill it up with 4 and then just keep adding oil slowly until it reaches the required level...

Yeah, the oil is on the 1st hole on the dip stick. I fill it up with 4 quarts as well, but I can see some oil spils on the floor where I park my car. I have to look more closely on the oil pan , it could be that the seal isnt good enough.

yeah my b16 drips oil as well...but mine is due to a bad crush washer on the oil plug....check to see where exactly the oil is dripping from...this is more than likely the cause of ur low oil level

How much oil does your b16 go thru? I know mine burns abit.. quarter of a quart for about 1400miles.

Never mind, I got the oil pressure switch problem solved it turned out to be that the other end of the wire wasnt grounded at all, for the oil pressure switch so the ECU couldnt read it at all. Since I grounded it and reset the ecu No more CEL and no more BS code 22
