Is It Possible to Test an Ignition Coil Out of Car?

get an ohmeter, set it to the 2nd lowest readout, test the postive and neg (they're labeled). They should be btw .6-.8 ohms. Next, switch the ohmeter to read 1000s test the secondary (coil and secondary winding terminals... should be btw 12.8-19.2k. If either don't fit within range, replace it. There's a dude selling on ebay for $20 plus $10 shipping... i just replaced mine with that and it works perfect.
