Valve cover gasket leak
Hi everyone,
The VC gasket on my DA Teg is leaking. It needed a new valve cover gasket, spark plug seals and a cam end plug. The dealer was charging too high for the work, so I took my car to a shop that I dealt with once. They thought it was my DC Teg that had the leak and ordered aftermarket Japanese parts for the DC. He was surprised when I pulled up with my DA. So I asked him if I had to come back another time because they ordered the parts for the DC. The shop owner told me it's the same parts and it would fit. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Because I went ahead and had them do the work. But now it' bothering me because I'm thinking to myself, what if it's the wrong parts and they made it fit or didn't replace everything. Help!

Great, thank you! Neither of my Tegs. have a VTEC
But atleast I won't have to worry about having the wrong parts installed.
Thanks guys!! BTW, I'm a woman.

Sounds like you found yourself a good one....not a bad paying career either. Make sure she'll give you a good discount on your new paint job.

I love cars and I constantly talk about them, read up on them and watch car shows. I'm learning more about cars in terms of bodywork and the mechanical side of things. But I do not change my own oil because my neighbours would kill me. I'm thinking about taking a course in the mechanical side of things.
Does looking "hot" while driving my car count??

I'm not that handy with cars. But love car in general. I'm learning more and more, but in terms of working on my own car, I may in the future.

geeezzzz, wassup with all the leghumping in here
yeah your gasket is fine, I'm sure the dealer would've told you if it wasn't...one more thing they could charge you for.
When you get some free time, you should go ahead and take your VC off. It's easier to do then an oil change, here's all you need:
10mm socket/wrench
the proper honda gasket (new from the dealer less than $3)
a tube of honda bond
pop your spark plug wires out from the head (leave them in the distributor and make sure they are marked so you don't get mixed up when going to put them back...though it's hard to do cause they are different lengths)
remove all the bolts, get a firm grip and take it off.
then turn it over, check the condition of the spark plug seals and vc gasket...if needed remove it, and replace.
Before putting ont the new gasket to the VC, take some honda bond (not too much) and place it along the VC groove for the gasket in spots along the corners and where the gasket has thick spots.
push down your gasket onto the VC, so it's nice and snug.
then turn it over and set it back on top of your head.
retighten the bolts (don't overtighten cause you can break one off...making an easy job not so easy).
Replace the spark plug wires and your good to go

It wasn't me, I swear. LOL
Thanks for all your advice. But I already had the work done. My original question was, I wanted to make sure the parts that the shop ordered for a 95' Teg (mistake on their part) would fit my DA Teg. I was worried the parts were different and they hid it from me. I didn't have the dealership do the work because they were charging too high, otherwise I know they would put on the right parts. But this, info. is good for future references. Thanks.
