does gas gauge self adjust?

im swapping guage clusters but the gas needle on both read differently. when i put the new cluster in, will it adjust to how much gas is in the tank? or will i have to manually move the gas needle myself?

It will adjust to the actual fuel level. Not sure if you have to start the car or not, maybe just turn it to ON.
