Thats not very good advise. You need to use sheilded wire. They have a RF sheilded insulator thats is grounded on both ends.

Good luck finding sheilded wire in short lengths. I need a bunch for my O2 and knock sensor.

I'm getting allot done on ym Teal beast. I'm waiting for my fullrace trac bar to come in so I can finish my intercooler piping.

I'm going to run new sheiled wire, through the harness, all the way back to the ECU for both the knock and O2. The sheilding is basically a foil around the wire that you ground on both ends.

I may order from here: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/...e.php

Sold in 10 ft increments only.

Yeah I did the old ghetto splice and after about six months the car began throwing Code 1.....so I'd do it right the first time.

what you can do is take an old o2 and cut off the plug and get the female plug off of a engine harness...then you can solder them together with any length of wire...that is what i did...worked fine...

Can't you just cut the split loom open, pull out the O2 wire back to the thermostat housing, then drop your O2 down to the header? That's what I did on my EG with a DC header.
