Default Need advice - 1997 Civic HX - $6000-

Guys - need some advice

Been shopping for a Civic for like 4-5 months. Michigan market is pretty weak for clean Civics.

Found this one - totally stock, dealer serviced, one owner, mileage 63K, carfax confirmed everything and came back clean.

1997 Civic HX - all options except moonroof and cruise, auto (wish it was 5 speed), clean interior and outter has usually dings, scrapes and bumps from a 1997.

I want to jump all over it because HX's are hard to find these days (and they get the best MPG for that gen) - but $6000 is a bit steep for me and he's pretty firm. I know someone will jump on it when they test drive it.

Any advice appreciated

That is a ridiculous price. Seriously man...I picked up a hatch for 2300 second owner with a clean title from a used dealership. Don't pay that much man...its not worth it.

that is steep, i got my 96 hx and it has the CVT (auto) tranny. I'd look for a 5 sp if I was you. when that tranny starts having problems it is expensive

Yes, and it WILL develop problems.

You don't want that transmission, find you a civic w/ a 5 speed. Have you checked autotrader? You could buy off an individual for less than what you'd pay the stealership.

If your going to pay 6G's for a stock HX hell no you could find a Civic with a swap in it on Ebay for that price. Don't do it that's way to muck for a civic

you could almost afford mine

that's a little steep for an HX (especially auto), unless you REALLY want that car i wouldn't pay that much for it. I bought a 98 integra RS with 68k miles for $6300....i consider that head and shoulders above the HX in many different ways. If someone's willing to pay that much for that car....well their choice, i wouldn't.

don't settle unless you want it, it's your money
