Axle Question: Intermediate shaft Purpose.
What if any are the benefits of having an intermediate shaft as opposed to a one piece axle? I have the intermediate axle setup from a 92 Integra non abs and i was just wondering what the pros/cons of this are.
thanks in advance.
thanks in advance.
From what I've always heard, it makes the actual axles close to equal length, which helps to minimize torque-steer.
doh, you beat me to it

Torque steer being that annoyance of when you take off having the car "walk" to one side. That's awesome! I always wondered why my car never walked when i would just take off. Thanks guys.
I feel that it also helps eliminate the "one wheel drive" tendancy of an open diff. My CRX with an open diff YS1 spins both tires pretty much no matter what, even in the rain.
