Passenger drive axle problems>
I just replace the passenger side drive axle. drove 1/2 mile down the road and pop nothing. no gears. It wasn't in all the way, i guess.
Axle will not go all the way in. the old one also will not go back in.
Splines are fine on the tranny. they look brand new as well as both the axles.
should the car be in gear or neutral when trying to put in the axle????
are there any tricks to getting it to go all the way in??????

I had the same problem working on a EG. The axles did not want to go all the way in. Not telling you to do this because it probally not recomending but i pushed on the axles so both joints were compressed then i hit it with a brass hammer until it popped all the way in
yep same here, when putting axles in I put them through the hub, with the lower ball joint still undone. I lift it so the axle is straight, then pull the swinging side of the hub back then swing in towards the tranny so it smacks the axle in. 2-3 times it should go all the way in. Just make sure you push it in and have it ligned up properly before you do this.
got it in. first axle was ruined after looking at it closer. end of splines were fucked up just enough to keep it from goin in. probably when it came out and tranny still spinnin. got another brand new one and tapped it it with hammer no problems.
