My hatch is a write-off. what to do with chasis after i strip everything?
I am buying back my written-off civic, damage was in the rear but the eng is fine.
After I take the control arms and suspenion, engine interior ect. how can I move the shell to the tow truck hook? Its going to be inside on a hoist(cable type) so the floors cant get damaged dragging the carcas out. And being a cable type hoist there is a "hump" on the ground that the shell would have to clear.
If i put it on two skids, and drag it off the skids on to a flat bed?
or lower it onto hand jacks and roll those outside?
how much does a bare chasis weigh?

i would either use some beefy(big tire ones) hand dollys, maybe one on each end(run a plank across and put your dolly under it) one guy on each dolly. or just get a bunch of your friends, and pack it out, if theres enough of you it shouldnt be too hard.
With everything stripped out of it..you might be able to actually carry it with some manpower...or cut it up with a sawzall into sections that'd be entertaining.

Sounds the most logical and FUN

I used a gas torch, great fun, though after a while I was thinking, "Boy, sure is hot." Raised the visor and discovered I'd ignited the insulation on the inside of the firewall... lots of flames! Note to self, remove all insulation before adding torch...

cut it up.
you'll get more taking the pieces to the scrap metal yard than you'll get from the tow company....if they even give you anything for the hull.
price of scrap steel right now is nice and high thanks to china
...as is our gas prices
anyway, cut it up and sell the scrap to the scrap yard and sell all the other stuff like wiring/interior/etc on ebay and you'll probably have a good bit of money in your pocket.

I already sold the bare chasis in trade for a paint job on my new eg hatch:D.
I wouldnt let a tow co. lay a finger on my hatch, crashed or not. -they always **** up my rides when I get towed...unless its a flat-deck.
