How to tell JDM from US trans
I was wondering is there anyway you can tell that you have a JDM b16 tranny aside from having a US b18 tranny? Is there any features you can tell from other then just the S1 on the trans. Cuz as I kno Us trans and jdm both have the same tranny codes. This is as if I was gonna buy it off someone and it wasnt in the car. Any help is appreciated.
bump because i'd like to know as well. But what i've heard, you can't tell the difference until you drive with it and see how short the gears are on the jdm tranny compared to the usdm.
You can crack the case open and count gear splines. Or compare mph -rpm stats on h-T.com That's how i found out my Ys1 was a gs-r, and not an ls/gs/rs tranny.
I believe all JDM cable b-series trans are small spline, while the 92-93 USDM are big spline, so if you have a big spline, you know its USDM, otherwise, crack open the case and start counting teeth.
