Default D-Series Cam Gear - Worth it?

First, here's my setup: AEM CAI, DC Sports 4-2-1 CC header, & GReddy EVO exhaust

I'm looking into buying a Cam Gear, NOT the entire cam shift. I'm wondering if i can expect any gains on my D16Y7 from an adjustable cam gear alone rather than replacing the whole shaft. The cam gear im looking into is the STR. Is the STR better than the AEM cam gear? Also, what is the best setting for a cam gear on my engine. Thanks in advance!
