My wrists are sore, my butt hurts, and my legs are jello. What a great day. :)
I just did my first long ride, about 160 miles over the course of 5 hours. I've only been riding a short while, finished up my MSF last weekend, finished getting my gear yesterday (A* GP-Plus gloves, A* Twin leather pants, A* TZ-1 jacket, and a Shoei TZ-R). Took the bike out for a long day.
Stopping every 30-45 minutes, I was able to do fine for about the first 140, I definitely felt myself getting worn out after that and promptly headed home. Feels alot nicer once that leather all starts loosening up.
I'm ready to pass out now, but had an awesome day and now at least I have some idea of what my limits are as far as time/mileage goes until I start getting in better riding condition.
Didnt hardly sweat at all, and I still had the liner in my jacket, and it was about 80* out with a slight breeze and not a cloud in the sky, definitely glad I made the decision to buy and wear full gear.
No point to this thread whatsoever, just sharing my first experience of riding beyond a 10 mile radius of my home.

Awesome, nothing like going for a long hard ride, coming home to a cold shower and lying down on the couch with a cold gatorade for a little nap.
If you're wrist are sore, you can use your knees to grab the tank and loosen up. You'll never have that problem again.
Well, I should rephrase that, my wrists arent sore, its mostly just my hands. I was squeezing the tank with my knees, but I was still putting alot of weight on my arms. It was my first time on a bike on alot of these roads, so what seemed fun in a car, was rather blah on a bike, I did mostly just alot of cruising. Once I got to spots where I could start leaning the bike over with alot more frequency, the discomfort in my hands would disappear completely.
I'm just simply not in shape *yet* to be riding. As wierd as it feels at first, squeezing the tank and flexing your stomach really does help to take alot of load off your lower back and wrists.

I love long rides. I always feel like i actually did something that day. My body just gets sore. I've done a 4 hour ride, and an 8 hour ride. They were awesome.
