Have any of you seen that show PINKS? i think its a killer show and thats what will bring the "cool" aesthetic back to import drag racing like it was back in the 90s. I'm just waiting to see an import episode. http://www.pinks.tv anyone plan on running?

 

This show is about people losing their car if they lose a race? I can't imagine real drag racers stupid enough to participate.

 

the show is, serioulsy, the stupidest show i have ever seen. the host obvioulsy doens't know a ******* thing about cars...and proves that over and over again. hell, in some interview he even admitted he couldn't change oil.

 

what robs really trying to say is hes a big fan and he watches it religiously every week.

ive seen short segments of the show about 2-3 times. i think its pretty dumb. seems like they always have these "hardcore" cars and yet they break constantly. i dont think half those cars ive seen have ever met the track.

 

still, its entertainment.


i love to see jerkoffs lose their car.

 

its real drag racing. its not some show coverage of the stereotype import show cars.

to me the commercials made it seem cool.. then i watched 1 episode. whats the difference of racing for your car and racing for $10,000? can i make a show where i goto the race track every weekend and race people for money?

 

The PINKS show is retarded. The host is a tool. He said a car was doing a burnout to warm up his wheels. What exactly is the incentive to take a car worth any money on the show??? It doesn't matter how fast it is, they argue for "car lengths". Some guys brought a car out that they just painted the night before WHY?!?!?! They race at a drag strip, but refuse to use the timing system. Then they argue about car lenghts not being fair and people jumping the start. The concept is cool (I guess ), but the excecution is terrible. Too bad I'm a sucker for anything about cars on TV though....

The idea only sounded good on paper. Everything about the show sucks, editing, camera shots,etc. The host is out of his element also.

Most of these type car shows turns out being lame. Its like someone who has no clue or intersest in cars came up with the idea to put a car show on tv. Put the real enthusiasts in the board room and behind the camera and I bet you get better car shows on tv.

I personally would like to see some kind of television series produced that dealt only with the performance side of imports. Unfortunatley almost everytime an import is shown on tv they are talking about their body kit, big *** wing, custom interior and stereo. Contrary to what the producers of these shows think alot of people don't want to see show cars. I guess the tv show sponsors are at fault for some of this.

It would be nice if there was a series that would walk you through a b or h series swap into a civic. You see what i'm getting at, more tech and horsepower and less show cars.

i used to street race, and would call people out and hassle them about how many cars i;ll give em.

No, I haven't been on the losing end. Someone who wants/needs car lengths isn't worth racing.
But this is a forum about drag racing at the track, and this show sounds like it can't even be bothered to run the timing equipment.

 

since when have you ran for pink slips at the track?
i dont think they can legally "street race" on the street...

so they use the strip.

and yes, giving people car lengths on the street is what its all about.

 

when it comes to TV, Its all about entertainment value and drama. theres a big difference between watching a dude cry cause he lost his car rather than a dude crying cause he won a Wally. we need to ge out of this lame 2F2F stereotype. Yea some people want to see more technical stuff, but to the average joe, how interesting would that be? if Fast and Furious was true to the "T", how entertaining would that be? Just like when Karate Kid came out in the 80s, how many "real" karate dudes where bummed saying "that move was stupid..you can really block by pretending to wax the car..." etc etc.
it would open some eyes to see a jdm/stock looking N/a or turbo honda take on a muscle V8.

and ok...I take back the comment about the twins. ive known them since their days W/ rado. they are cool ,but the dummies that are on the show are frustrating....

you work for them or soemthing??? if so, get a new ******* host and some REAL racers... most of the guys on their are douches. prob the BEST episode i saw was the older camero and teh something else (can't remember.....i have no short term memory) and the one kid was sand bagging and he was just a REAL street racer.

but, what pisses me off
1. WTF is up with getting 3 runs before? you don't get that **** at the real races...you go out, pull off the trailer..warm up the tires and you're gone. yes you do a little **** talking before hand..but you don't ******* get 3 damn practice runs..thats just gay.
2. THE HOST IS A ******* TOOL
3. the ending...well, going black and white and the sad music....no one ******* cares. more cars, less stupid ******* drama bullshit.

5. why do they ALWAYS cut to comercial after the cars kick it?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?! Just go to comercial BEFORE they start racing...dramatic effect...no, just bad television.

 

no i dont work for them. i just want to see some imports on there. if the show didnt go to commercials, it would be a 3 min show. you figure, each run is about 10 sec long. and "...why dont they get real racers..." you ask? ha... what do you think they do? audition people through some acting agency?
