Default Is there a difference in a 88-91 SOHC flywheels?

Because for some reason there are a lot of companies posting aftermarket flywheels only for 1990-2004 sohcs? And also for the flywheels...does it matter by the year of the block or the year of the tranny?

90+ are 212mm...the 88 I believe is around 188mm, and the 89 is 200mm. What matters is the tranny/clutch/fly combo.....any 88-91 flywheel will bolt to any 88-91 motor.

88 clutch has a dif spline also, but if u have a 89 u can change the clutch and flywheel to a 90 or above and get the bigger clutch service. that is what i did to my 89 si

correct me if im wrong but the hf flywheel is also lighter than the dx and Si due to the motor only being 70hp.

Doubtful, I've never heard anything to back this up, otherwise people would be after hf flywheels for a cheap "lightweight" one.

Yup, 88 has 21 splines, if you have an 88 tranny you HAVE to use an 88 fly/clutch. 89-91 trannys can either use an 89 fly/clutch or 90-91 fly/clutch, in which case people go for the 90-91 bc of the larger diameter. 212mm vs 200mm.

I'm for damn sure the DX flywheel is 2-3 pounds lighter than the Zc. while puttting one in my buddys hatch we weighed them both and we ended up sticking with the dx one. mainly cause he had to use the stock dx tranny.

It was a around 4 years ago we did that swap and I cant remember for **** what they exactly weighed at. but I think it was :Dx 12lbs, Zc 15.5lbs or Dx 15lbs, Zc 18lbs? I dunno....
