Default Autometer Idle Confusion

I have a JDM B16A 2nd gen, I've been using the autometer tach for over a year and it idles at 900rpm(the needle shakes a bit), I just install a new Dizzy so I am going to reset my ignition timing. The manual says my idle should be at 750rpm 50rpm+/- in order to get a correct ignition timing. Just wandering for those who are using autometer tach, is your idle stay at 900rpm? or I am the only one with high idle...?
What happens if the ignition timing is off? Will it damage my engine? Thanks.
