trannies dont slip. clutches do. if it was the clutch, it would slip in every gear, and going up hills, etc.

It sounds like the clutch might be just starting to slip. It sounds like his clutch is slipping through first gear and then it catches for the rest of the gears.

Try SLOWLY accelerating to redline in 1st. See if your redline speed is higher. It should be about 40mph (not sure of the exact speed)

Try what I said. If you redline at a higher speed, your clutch is slipping. Also try flooring it in 5th at around 1-2krpm. See if your revs shoot up really fast.

If your car is stock, I would reccomend a stock replacement clutch. They're really cheap. That's what I plan on getting for my car. Check the sponsors section.

1st gear at 7500rpm should be 36mph.

Whoa there! He has an Si, not a VTEC. Redline is 6400 RPM. In my experience, you might get past 30 mph at redline in 1st with the Si gearing.

First gear should be the jerkiest. If you're not feeling as much go from 4k rpm in 1st as in 3rd, it would make sense that the clutch is starting to slip just in 1st because that gear is torquey enough to make it slip when you punch it or when you start, but the others are not.

Try this: With the e-brake pulled, rev it about halfway up and slowly pull up the clutch. If the car doesn't start to stall, your clutch is probably slipping.
