I don't know if it's true or not...but I wouldn't expect the feds to come bust your door down over it. Just make sure it is a cash sale so there aren't any traces leading back to you!

[edit]Now that I think about it, it is illegal to remove your stock cat if it has less than 50k miles and no defects (or something along these lines)...so you have already broken the law. Might as well sell the cat...[/edit]

No you can sell it. What is elligal is to replace your cat with another cat before hitting I think 85K miles. But all you have to say is well my car was lowered and I hit a rock or some SHI@ so dont worry make some money

It's on the paperwork that came with my 2.5" Carsound...but I don't feel like digging around for it right now. I think 50k miles sounds right...

I am running the DC JDM header anyway so I can't really do anything with it you know. I have a test pipe cause I don't even have emissions in my county so I am ok on that. I might get a car sound cat just to be safe though...so what do you guys think should I sell it or not. my car has 61,000 miles on it so I am over 50,000

I would get the carsound for the sake of the environment and exhaust sound.

if it's illegal to replace a cat on a car with less than 50k miles, will shops refuse to bolt on new header/carsound cat onto newer cars??? hmmm, i've just ordered a carsound and my car has 16k miles!

Depends on the shop, but they might refuse it. Why don't you just do it yourself?

They might not install it for you. It's kinda like selling beer to underage kids. I would just do the install yourself. It's not that hard.
