Default Multi-piece strut bar, max lenghth or minimum lenghth?

hey guys i got the rear and front Ractive strut bars for my 91 accord, i got a question should i expand the bar to its max lenghth or shorten it as much as possible? i got the bar in the middle then on either end a bolt, and i can adjust the lenghth of the whole thing, do i want it as tight as possible or as expanded as possible? simple talk, example, the bar should be 2 feet when installed on the car, or 2 feet and 2 inches, after it is actually on the studs/nuts, thanks!
