A friend of mine just picked up a 96 ex coupe (5spd) with 180,000 miles. The car supposedly came from NH and has rust here and there on the exterior. In the engine bay, there seems to be rust on some of the mechanical parts and brackets too. But the main concern is, the ac fan doesnt work. I checked the fuse in the engine bay fuse box and its blown. I replaced it and activated the ac, I saw ac blades spin and then the fuse poped again. Any idea why? Theres a short or something screwy going on.

Any idea how to locate the short? I also have a 96 ek (non stock), my ac fan turns on and seems to work fine. My friends car is completely stock with no work done at all.

 

As far as testing it I have no clue, a mech should be able to do it but if you want to make sure that it is a short than run new wire from the fuse box directly to your fan and see what happens...my .02

 

That sounds like it might work. Any other creative ideas? Its really hot out here
