Counter Steering?
Interesting reading
In short, counter steering -> push the handle bar in the opposite direction of a turn. Say you are going 30 mph and approaching a left curve. Instead of turning the handle bar to the left, you actually turn it to the right ( via lightly "pushing" on the left handle bar ). This push will cause the bike to lean left, explained by Gyroscopic Precession. Once the bike is on the the side of its tires, it will turn in the direction of the curve(camber thrust).

not really "steering." steering is what is done in cars. it's just pushing on the right handlegrip (to make it turn left). or, pulling on the left handlegrip.
leaning keeps your center of gravity low to the ground.

that's why its called "counter" steering. Many people do it instinctivly. The problem is they don't really realize they're doing it. This has a significant impact on riders when they get into trouble. For some reason, when a rider gets into trouble they do not use counter-steering, they try to use body mass and steering. So understanding counter-steering on a concious level gives you an advantage when the survival reactions try to take over.

You have to 'countersteer' to turn at speed. Its gyrocsopic effect, push on the left bar and over you go! Also you can achive massive stability eg when going to the left, by applying downwards force to the left peg. This firstly shifts your weight into the correct start position and will initaite the turn...trust me just have a go. Relax your grip from the bars at around 60 or so and push down on the peg just 'monitoring' the bars.
