Default Project switch-a-roo number two

Updates at bottom of page!

Well,
So it all began when I saw her on the side of the road with a for sale sign and the great OBO symbol of someone screaming for me to take them. So I call the kid up and ask what's wrong with it. he says "It needs a new motor" ok easy enough. so I run over and meet him and ask him to take me for a spin in it. he agrees. well about 30 sec into the test drive I'm smelling coolant so I tell him to pull over and pop the hood. Coolant everywhere. But luckily it's just a broken hose. So I ask him how bad he wanted to get rid of this thing TODAY. His reply was "well I gotta make rent by five" BAAAADDDDD IDEA for him to mention this to me. So I run to the bank and pull out 5 bills his asking price was double that.
So I call this kid back and tell him I wanna take another look at it. so we drive back out to meet him. I start telling him about HOW MUCH MONEY it will take for me to get this thing running. BLAH BLAH just filling his ears with **** so I had a reason to lowball him. So I pull five bills out and his eyes light up like christmas morning. Woo hoo I'm thinking to myself. SO and hour and a half later we get to this.

So After a trip to Phoenix and some haggling with some of my friends I came away with this for 2 bills

her new heart waiting to be ripped out

REX's engine bay all cleaned up ready for the operation

Cliffs : Bought a slightly damaged rex for 500, bought a Really messed up teg rs for 200, Ready for the transplant.

So to add some tech to this. I need to know how much to shorten the shift linkage by to make it fit. Also I have a book by aron Bonk about honda engine swaps. It says that I can use all of the original teg mounts with the exception of the back tranny mount. is there any truth to this.

Any comments welcomed

The amount you have to shorten the linkage will vary slightly depending on what mounts you're using. I'm using Arizona Race & Machine billet mounts, and I cut my shift linkage something like 2 1/4" shorter.

you won't get a straight answer about the shift linkage, different mount kits sit the engine differently, and very few people use oem mounts.

just attach the linkage to the engine/tranny when it's all in the bay, and measure from the center of the bushing to the venter of the peg that goes into it. that's how much you cut.

if i remember right, it's not the back mount that's different, its the one on the passenger side frame rail. and i think it's in the right place, but it's wider than the space for it to fit into. i dunno, try putting it in and seeing how they line up.

Hey thanks for the help,
I got the mounts to make it fit, Luckily while I was down I phx I got a set of hasports just to be sure. The linkage was cut by 2 5/8 inches and fit's perfect.

The only thing now is when I start her up she runs rough and is throwing a CEL for number 5 and 14 so hopefully tomorrow I'll get it all ironed out.

To get the engine that bright I used a wire brush first to get the really big stuff off then a wire wheel on an electric drill. Then Gunk Foamy engine bright. And to top it all off I used a toothbrush and simple green.

Total about four hours of cleaning and didn't even get it all
