Default H22 94 CIVIC COUPE OVERHEATING SEARCH

I searched and nothing came up. My fan is fine because it runs all the time. My temp guage rises slowly when i am stopped or stop and go traffic. It doesnt overheat while driving, does that mean its the thermostat.

First of all what the hell is wrong with a h22 civic.
2nd if the thermo is bad it will overheat usually all the time.
Your symptoms sounds like the fan isn't working or the cts sensor is bad.
Good luck

Maybe the stock radator is too small for the the H22. I have the stock rad in mine w/ no fan runnin a LS in my couple and it hasn't ever overheated but that beside the point.

the stock fan should work ok, but i would replace it anyway just to be safe. Did you check the thermostat yet?

It sounds like your fan isnt working. Your radiator is working fine when your driving because air is still passing over it but when you slow down the fan is supposed to do that job. If your thermostat was stuck closed or open then you would either CONSTANTLY overheat, or your car would operate at too cold a temperature.

it sounds like your thermo is broke @ partially open if you never have overheating issues and you dont have a fan. Either that or your constantly driving on the freeway.

if the thermo was stuck open, the radiator would constantly be cooling the engine, hence it would run colder than it should and not hotter

http://www.howstuffworks.com

go there and check out engine cooling systems. 90% likely its your fan.

His fan is working constantly, which from what i remember isnt normal. The fan may just be giving out but putting out enough CFM to where the temp is running gradually.

Just cus the fan is running doesnt mean its not running poorly.

From what I've seen, H22 hatches can be quite fun to drive...

dog, im tellin you it was the fan! The fan still runs constantly but since your running it more than it usually is ran, you might have made it less efficient at pulling air. Less CFM = less cooling. If your car is cooling at highway driving and isnt at street driving the only variable is that your radiator doesnt need the fan when highway driving.

Why is it a waste of time? I've seen the same problem he's having on stock D, or swapped B. H22 civics are fun to drive in. As are B-Civics, but he could be having just a standard heating issue.

But yes it could be your thermostat if you haven't changed it. Also make sure you have no extra air in your system. Your head gasket is still good too right?

also when you swapped, did you try using the oem honda dual core radiator? Or retro and integ rediator? Or go aftermarket radiator?

Are you still running the single core radiator?

Glad to hear...I have just heard horror stories of people with swaps and they were still using their single core radiator and that was the cause of their problems, glad you seem to have it fixed .
