Coolant leaking behind my intake manifold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Ok heres the deal just finished my d15b swap in my crx. finally got the car on the ground, started the car, started fine, idle was really high like at 2-2500, then all of sudden COOLANT just started spewing out behind the intake manifold! not exactly sure where its comeing from looks like on the bottom side towards the top of the manifold. Can anyone help me fix this??
Theres a small sensor on the bottom of the intake (Fast Idle control valve?). There is a hose going to that sensor, it's probably leaking or not attached.
what car did the manifold come off of?
when i did this swap, i used a 90 civic ex manifold, and found out the same way that there is an extra coolant passage on this manifold, which is supposed to hook up to an oil cooler. since the engine didnt have an oil cooler, i didnt realize that it was disconnected, and when i first started the car up, coolant started spilling out the back of the manifold. If this is your problem, it is located under the runner closest to the throttle body, and you can just plug it.

well the manifold actually came with the d15b, so you're saying i can just get a bolt and plug it up??

nope not that thing but i think it was spewing right behind that thing

i think i have everything pluged up tho but i'll double check!

Mine use to leak from the EACV on the back of the manifold once the car got warm. The problem was I didn't have the propper clamp on the hose and once pressure would build it would spill out past the clamp.
Make sure you the manifold bolts are torqued properly, I had coolant coming out from the manifold, but once i torqued it down it was no longer a problem.
thanks guys, i'll try to go ahead and make sure all my bolts are tight, i'll also try to take some pictures later on tonight if i get a chance too. If im not mistaken i felt two holes underneath close to where it looked like it might have been leaking from. eh i'll go check out more when i get home! hope i can get this up and running before the next bay area meet
thanks again!

Can't recall if the d15b has a icav valve in the same place the d16z6 does, but this is what happened to me. I finished my swap, started it up, let it run a bit, then noticed a huuge puddle right below my door.
The tube that connected the first nipple behind the water pump to the iacv was misplaced (I *know* my dad tossed it out!), and never fixed. Shot all of the fluid into the firewall. Connected the nipple (on the driver's side of the manifold, on main coolant tube) to the iacb (behind the throttle body, slightly on the driver's side).
The other connections should be from the block to the manifold under the TB, one from the head [to the tube connected to the crankcase vent tube] to the fitv valve in those pictures. If those tubes where off, they'd shoot out to the firewall (block to mani hose), or towards the firewall upwards.

ok heres what happened now, i couldnt get a good picture of my actual manifold kuz lack of space so i took a picture of my old motor to show where its comeing from. basically the picture shows where its leaking coolant or at least i think thats where it came from. and then i started seeing lots of smoke comeing mostly from the firewall and parts of the motor! ahhh what do i do!

There are only a few things I can think that it would be, Hose(s), gasket(s), O ring(s), cracked head/ manifold, or any combination of those. Only thing I can think to do is have a friend start it and try to see where it's actually coming from.
im thinking it might be a gasket?? oh and then i discovered the smoke was comeing from the firewall! is something burning in there? or like what hiprofile said could there be coolant leaking in there???

Not that I know of, unless it's electrical. It may have just been coolent dripping onto the exhuast.
ok looks like i found the problem, looks like that piece where the 2 hoses go where its screwed down wasnt flat it was kinda bent leaving a little crack for coolant to leak. ima try starting it again in a minute we'll see what happens
