I guess I need something else now. There is a single wire thermo switch on the left side of the radiator; does this signal directly to the ecu? Damn racebikes...
If anyone has a link to a 929 service manual, that would probably be the bestest....

you should be looking at the fan switch.
my manual shows that it goes directly to the fan. it is what provides ground for the circuit.
