Default HELP!!! Extended Warranty help on my ITR in NorthEast!!!

it's been while i've posted new topic here
but i really need help bad

last night, i brought my car in for warranty on couple things thinking it will be covered under my acura care extended warranty. WRONG!

Problems i have :
1. during last 3500 miles, my car ate 3.5qt of oil(Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w-30)
2. lately, i'm having hard time shifting into 1st, 2nd, reverse gears and hear grinds sometimes but not all the time
3. wheel lock to lock from left to right. when turning right to lock, it turns 1.5 turns but to left lock it turns more than 1.5 turns and rubs against fender liner

Diagnostic results after charging me $90 :
1. No external leakage found (of course cuz i'm **** with my car just like everyone on HT). will need to run consumtion test and he tells me @ 6:15PM when i stop by to pickup my car. can't do consumtion test today and will need to schedule some other time...??? it's basically much simple oil change and he tells me he can't do it when he had my car entire day to do it.
I WANT TO GET MY ENGINE RUNNING RIGHT OR REPLACED!!!!!

2. Shop Foreman goes out with me to test drive my car. He have never heard of ITR or any Integra with bad syncro and reverse gear does that because it's straight cut gear and also mentions it has no wearable item for it. Only syncro he know that's bad is on RSX's 5th&6th gear
another thing he told me was if i wanted to get it checked further, i need to authorize them to teardown my transmission to determine if i've done any modification to tranny and inspect and parts faulty or damaged/abused. if Acura Care denies warranty, i'll eat the cost of teardown @ $1350.
REPLACE MY SYNCRO OR MY TRANSMISSION!!!!

3. That due to having non-factory wheels + non-factory tire size caused it. WTF??? 215/45/16 is stock tire size on JDM ITR and 16x7 Mugen RG is oversized for ITR??? This guy must be shitting me.
WTF is wrong w/ my lock to lock ratio between left & right???

anyone who can help me or find me place/dealership to get helped will be greatly appreciated
come on...... help me.....please......

BTW...... Boston SUCKS..... my Mugen bumper got owned by Toyota Land Cruiser with tow hitch.......will post pix later

btw, car has 36816 on the odometer
oil changed every 2000~3500 miles depends on driving condition and weather condition.

Not hating on you, but that is why I never bought an extended warrranty on any car. If dealers warrantied everything that was wrong, they wouldn't be there to sell cars or make any money for that fact.
Looking from your issues, I would say your piston rings are shot, and syncros are shot.
Try some pennzoil syncromesh, DIY, and then for the engine, run a leakdown test at another place.
A dealer doesn't want to deal with it, let alone be the one to warranty that work, because it looks extensive

From what you described in problem #2 I would have to say its your syncros, thats the exact same problem I had with my car. It would grind at the higher rpms, but only in 4th or 5th gear and normally only after v-tec was engaged in the prior gear. You shouldn't have to pay for that, mine was covered.

edit: Type R motors do consume oil, esp. if you are beating the car and going in v-tec or redlining

another question just came up regarding #2.
so the real question is......should i risk getting slapped with $1350 bill for teardown job to see if it will be covered by Acura Care or not?
because $1350 isn't small amount of money and the fact that, that $1350 is labor only which doesn't include parts.
Mike M @ IPS Racing told me that i can get my tranny rebuilt w/ new syncro for less than $1000 or something like that.

$1350 for teardown = Big gamble???
what should i do???

If you are paying to tear it down, just get the sucker rebuilt.
Damn your brother has wrecked a lot of vehicles, I wonder how much his insurance is.
There are a few places if I am not mistaken that can build you a quality oem engine, if that is what you want.
I would go with ctr piston and just a stock hone, if you don't wany anything substantial that will bite your wallet

should i authorize for tranny teardown despite i might get slapped w/ $1350 bill??

So, I have a lot of experience with Acura of Boston. They play hardball in the service area. I had escalated the district manager come in to listen to my clutch noises. They did not take any action, but they did replace my clutch about 5K miles later when a spring broke.

There is an Acura dealership in Framingham. I know nothing about there service.

I do deal with Sunnyside Acura in Nashua NH, because it's near my work. Their service area has been very fair to me.

Not taking sides but I once used to be a parts manager for an Acura dealership and knows alot about Acura care.

Syncros are consider to be a wearable item, sorta like brake pads, clutch, suspension bushing, etc. If the tech tears down your tranny and finds any wear-able items, you have to pay them regardless. Unless, he finds your diff out of specs or countershaft have cracks in it, it may be covered (*)

Extended Warranty is used to find a fault in manaufactors parts. I.e., if your distributor takes a ****, its cover under extended warranty. Or if your compressor takes a dump, its covered.

If you are burning oil, mostly likely its the piston rings. Again, its sound gay, but its a wearable item. Unless the block have some crack somewhere, cause to leak, yes, thats a manufactor error. And gets replace.

I know, its dumb and gay, but the rules are stated when you sign that contract. Rules are strict for people that tried to advantage of the system.

*unless you got hook ups at the dealership or you have been a good courtesy customer to that particular dealer. Alot of dealers will do anything and will replaced it. Seen this with new SI's, RSX, S2000 through the years.

Also, don't forget the JDM ITR have a FD of 4.7, where your has a 4.4FD, hence why JDM ITR are equipped with 16x7 and bigger tire size. However, it shouldn't effect but they have every reason to tell you that your car has been modify to factory speciation.

Beside, you own a Type-R, ***** going to break when you start drag racing it, road racing it, etc. People like you are a prime example Honda of America won't bring the ITRs them to USA.

Its a headache for dealerships, hence why HOA goes to the dealers, not us bitchn' on the net about service.

Sorry, but I can't stand some of you guys about your warranty problems. There's always two sides of the story.

If you are going "play you have to pay"

have someone else re-built for you. Yes, lol, dealerships charges by hour book. I.E, its like 15 hours. Muiltbly that by the hourly rate that dealer charges.

Dealerships have alot of overhead, hence why they charge alot. (thats one reason).

Just buy the parts from Len (or whoever) and having someone re-built. Make sure he knows what he's doing. Last thing you won't, something not going right.

To be honest... How would you classify this claim?

Unbearable wine from tranny, sounds like a steel pipe is being dragged under the car.
well the dealer did not want to touch it cause they said I beat the tranny up and all the syncros and gears are gone. As you will see in the pics the only thing to go was the bearings. Not my fault, the tranny was never opened. So the dealer finally rebuilt the tranny which only last 10K miles before everything started go from heat failure ( a long story(( blame solely on the dealer)).

Bert, Many things have gone wrong with my caR and I know I have caused some of them But in a case like this, Why would the dealer be such a bunch of ....s ?

YOU CAN'T STAND PEOPLE LIKE ME WITH WARRANTY PROBLEM BECAUSE OF DEALERSHIP BEING RETARDED???

the gayest thing about my problem #3 is that the shop foreman said whoever did your alignments didn't do them right. instead they just set the steering wheel straight and turn the wheels straight and that's why my ratio from left to right is different!!! guess what???? you guys are only ones who did my alignments!!! who's to blame now?

problem w/ problem #2 is that he said because i didn't flush tranny fluid or used non-honda fluid and caused problem or i installed non-factory parts such as clutch/flywheel/gears etc. gearbox has never been opened before and tranny fluid was always with honda MTF that came originally w/ car and lastly replaced by the dealer for 30k service. only thing i could say that is not stock transmission part is buddy club short throw shifter, like that's gonna cause problem in gearbox???

you mentioned about drag racing or any type of racing. but the fact is Type-Rs weren't meant for drag in the first place and my R has never been on track or any sort.
another thing that bothered me was people whining or complaining about gay warranty. not all of us can claim warranty because some people choose to install aftermarket parts on their cars which will void part of warranty. i choose not to swap clutch/flywheel/FD and i think i have legit claim for my warranty

For synchros, if they are bad at 36816 miles, then that would indicate excessive wear on them.

Ask them to replace it under warranty. If they mention abuse, tell them that if it were abuse it would mean that all synchros should be bad, and not just a few of them.

If they refuse, just take it to another dealer.

anyone else who can help me or hook me up?
if you guys were in my situation, what would be best thing to do?
call Acura Care and cancel the warranty and get money refunded and fix the problems?
because taking engine apart + tranny will run me @ least $4000 if not more unless i'm thinking wrong
more input will be greatly appreciated
thanks guys

I have the same issues. I cant believe Acura Extended Warantee is not breaking the law.

How could it be legal for them to make you pay for engine teardowns, etc before they will potentially uphold the warantee. I didnt have to do that under regular warantee. I think its stonewalling. Cant be f'ing legal..

Acura extended warantee is a scam in my opinion.

Rob, you do beat the hell out of the car and you seem to take pride in that fact - thats fine, its your car - but you cant expect warranty coverage on it.

I took mine to a local dealership when my snycros were bad, they told me that they will look into it and I might have to pay for the teardown and rebuild if Acura thinks its abuse, I told them ok, it needed to be fixed anyway. It took them about a week and the gave me a free rental car and fixed the snycros, NO PROBLEM. I have a clutch, flywheel, supercharger w/ fmic, and headers. they told me that I might have to bring my stock parts if Acura came to look, but they never did. The dealership even said they would put all the stock parts on my car free of charge, and return it to the condition it was after my trans was fixed, free of charge. You just need to find a good dealership, AND STOP BITCHING THAT THE COVERAGE SUCKS, OR DON'T BUY IT NEXT TIME!
