Which d16 tranny?
Hey guyz, I have 3 transmissions and I don't know what there gear ratios are or which one is better in general. I have two L3 trannys and one SL3 tranny. Which one would be better for running quarter miles? And which one would be better at top end?
L3 tranny is good. I traded an hf tranny and engine block for my l3. Here is a link with gear ratios that might help you out

That's not always the case. I had a dx tranny (Same ratios, different final drive as the si) and I was able to bury my speedo, with my SI tranny, I can't top 115... I use 13 inch stock VW wheels with both, and the exact same tires... I prefer the DX to the SI, but if I was to go 1/4 mile, I think I would want the SI. As for L3, that's any 88-91 cable tranny, so you may have two Dxs. Do a search, there's more than enough info on here to help you find out what you have.
Well, thanks. On my stock tranny, that came with the car... "sl3" I was able to hit 130+ on a straightaway... (freeway racing). On my other civic hatch I was able to do the same... but with an L3 si tranny.... I always thought that the si tranny's had the code L3. I guess I was wrong. Thanks though!

well i have a boosted d16 and i ran a better time with the si over the dx. oh and I have gone around 250KMS with my si. I am running a d16z6 BTW and I was around 5500ish at 250 KMS not miles. I say just run an si.
okai.... now since L3 for that matter doesn't really tell what kind of transmission you have... how would I know which L3 is from an si. Say for example I go to a shop like Jtech or Jun or any shop that carries "Si" transmissions for a d16. Like is there any certain way of determaining which is which... Cuz my last si transmission blew... and I thought by finding another "L3" transmission, it would be the same. But apparently not. Just need alil more info. Thanks guyz for ur time though.
