lately my trans has been doing some grinding mainly in first and im thinkin that the syncros are getting bad but first i want to try to change the trans fluid first and see if it help. i looked in the other forums and under tranny fluid it tells how to change the oil.. any help would be appriciated.. by the way its a 99 si

 

Open fill plug. Open drain plug. Let fluid drain. Close drain plug. Add new fluid to fill plug hole until the fluid begins to overflow out of the fill plug hole.

 

1. Remove the oil filler plug and check the level and condition of the oil.
2. The oil level must be up to the filler hole. If it is below the hole, add fluid until it runs out. The reinstall the oil filler plug.
3. If the oil is dirty, remove the drain plug and drain the oil.
4. Reinstall the drain plug with a new washer and refill the oil to the proper level.
5. Reinstall the oil filler plug with a new washer.

Oil filler plug - torque to 33 ft/lbs
Drain plug - torque to 29 ft/lbs

 

another easier way to fill is through the speed sensor.. take the speed sensor off and fill it through a funnel till it starts dripping out of the fill hole
