Default RPM activation switch issues (searched)

ok i have th eswitch hooked up correctly, first i hooked the tach wire up to the wire behind the guages. as soon as i do that my tach stops working. ok so then i try hooking it up directly to the wire coming out of the dizzy. and again my tach stops, as soon as i unhook the wire, the tach starts up again. this is drivin me nuts, i know someone has to be usin an rpm switch.

did you have power and ground running to the switch also?
alot of RPM switches need power and ground to keep from loading the tach signal down, it will try to power itself with the tach signal.

also, are you positive that you are connecting it right?

yeah i finally figured it out. for some reason the switcheds are diff than just a regular shift light. i had to take the dizzy apart and connect it to the negative terminal on the coil inside the dizzy, then run the wire to the switch. for some reason you cant just hook it up to the tach output wire on the ecu or at the guages. ill take some pics later so when ever anyone else tries this they wont have so many issues lik i did.

I have a RPM switch hooked up right behind my cluster. no problems.
it might be something with your setup, or just that brand of RPM Switch...
