Default Help with EF Hatch Interior Issues!!!

I have a 1988 Civic Hatch Std, and I have removed the back seat and rear carpet area due to "family issues" that I would rather not get into. I am looking to complete the interior WITHOUT a back seat but make it look clean. Would I be able to install the personal lockbox and rear shelf from a CRX into my hatch without problems, would it require modification to fit properly, or is this a lost cause?

FYI... There is a similar thread in the EF Forum, but nobody is offering constructive advice. Thanks for looking and helping!

Personally i have never seen it done, and i think since the rear half of the car is totally different, my professional opinion would be that it can not be done with JUST the oem pieces and no fabrication.

You could do something like this...

i agree...but i may be wrong. But it'll definitely be clean w/ the rear panels or without them.

don't mind the floor mat in the back, but there's a custom cut carpet under there too.

Yeah, I thought about making a custom floor out of 1/2" particle board and carpet for the rear and mounting my subs, amp and rear speakers in a custom box where the rear seat used to be, but I would have to grind off the middle seat mount to keep the deck flush and level. I am not certain I am ready for that kind of fabrication yet. I have no experience with grinding off parts or welding, but I have a very difficult time justifying paying somebody else to do something if I can do it myself.

Thank you for the examples and ideas, this thread was already more productive than the EF forum. I hope more people have additional ideas and advice.

Does anybody else have an idea on how this can be done, or how to EASILY (minimal fabrication or modification to the body) clean up the rear area in an EF Hatch and maintain the current interior parts?
