Tanabe Sustec coilovers=super duper harsh bouncy
Well I bought these used about a month ago on ebay for my 93 bb1. Anyways I just installed them todayand they are very bouncy in the rear only. The fronts feel fine going over say a speed bump but the the rears take a hard rough bounce. The overall ride is pretty rough on the streets.
I guess im asking if this is normal because of stiff spring rates or are the struts blown? Either way these are coming off a.s.a.p. and going on ebay. Oh yeah these are non adjustable dampering. Any input would be great.

depends, need some #'s on the rear spring rate. also, does the car continue to bounce or is it just one hard stiff bounce. if that makes any sense...how low are you? are you hitting the bumpstops?

Im about a finger or a finger and a half gap above the wheels. It is a hard small bounce that I feel. If press down on the trunk area to try to bounce the car it barely moves. Ill try to check for any model numbers.
pull the springs off the shocks and push in the shock by hand ..there should be some resistance ...when my suspension was in good shap it would take abotu an hour to come all the way back ou t..no they come up as fast as they go in haha but ive put a ton of miles on them

hmm sounds like it's in working order, just too stiff.

also keep in mind that with the first generation sustec's the amount of fluid displaced vs stock is about half. As it's a slightly shortened body shock, but the shock body is the same size (or a little smaller) than stock and the shaft size is the same as stock. So bounciness is to be expected with the first generation one, not sure about the 2nd generation Sustec's though. The dampening rate is very underdampened for low speed and probably a little over dampened for high speed.
