Default AutoLab T4/SFWD CRX (pics & vid)

Hello everyone, here are some pics and a vid of our project CRX. Hopefully going to make some events now that we were finally able to afford a real clutch for the car (Exedy twin disk ) The pics show the progress of about 6 months of hard work. The car was a total piece when we got it, we stripped it and completely started over. It was a lot of fun and we're nowhere near to being finished with it.

ERL/Darton sleeved B16
JE/Crower
stock everything else from headgasket up (for now)
stock axles & trans
Skunk2 drag susp kit on KYB
25" M&H
Autronic SMC
PhoenixTurbo.com T3/T04R on 14psi (377whp)

The manifold, downpipe, fmic, charge pipes, and custom cam and crank trigger system were all fabricated in house. Please check out our ad in the new DSport mag.

BIG THANKS:

Ken @ PhoenixTurbo.com
John @ M&H

Ben Strader @ EFI101

Vid - 14psi (377whp). Best pass of the night 11.5@128, I'll try to get that vid loaded here in a few.

engine setup is pretty mild:

ERL SuperDeckII (2.0L B16)
LS crank
JE/Crower 9:1
Cometic HG
ARP studs
ERL 5 main girdle

but everything from headgasket up is stock 1990 B16, just a cleaned up head with a valve job and new seals. Stock int mani, stock B16 cams, stock tbody, stock valvetrain. I think thats why we were down a little on power considering the turbo size. We made 377 whp on 14psi while everyone else under the sun usually does around 425whp on the same boost. The CTR cams and JG manifold we have waiting to be installed should give us some good power.

Thanks again everyone

thats almost the same time that mattnsx ran in his car on 10 psi 2 tenths faster. I would assume that you have traction problems and also the extra torque of the 2 liter motor doesnt help you much. Might i ask what size tires your running and the cars weight?

he's running 25x8.7x13in M&Hs, which makes it far disadvantaged compared to matt running on 22s. not to mention, if you watch the video you can hear his tires spinning through 1st and 2nd on the slicks. Matt could pull 1.6 60fts, bill was only managing 1.8s. not to mention, bill probably has around 70 more wlbs than nsxmatt, which just causes him all kinds of traction issues.

i'd venture to say the crx weighs close to the same as nsxmatt's car, in and around 2100lbs.

i'm no expert, but if you hear the car go through the gears, you'll hear the car loose traction in both first and second gear. but once it hits third gear, it sounds like it falls on its face.

ET's may be close to my old car but other than that there is no comparison. The crx runs a larger turbo and right now is set to rev lower than mine did. That along with traction problems that night and a almost 130mph trap on the rev limiter tells me that is a easy 10 second car the way it sits. Once it revs past 8k and can catch the next gear in boost it will improve the whole run.

you are correct the car did stumble on that run going into 3rd. it was my 4th pass ever, cut me some slack LOL

we really didnt even want to run some times, I just wanted to get some seat time, play with 2step settings in the software and figure out tire pressure. what we ran is what we ran, we were pleased but we werent pushing the car all that hard.

the twin disk is a great clutch, we may replace the clutch cable though. Were having a hell of a time keeping it adjusted. sometimes it is very notchy and it doesnt go into gear too easily so im reluctant to really bang a gear. that is why the car fell out of boost in between shifts.

thanks again to everyone and for their help
