Default HELP! buying 01 prelude.... DSMcrossover

Hey honda tuners,
names mark and ive owned all DSMs since i got my license(6 to be exact). But ive always loved this generation of preludes. Ive got a chance to pick up a 01 electron blue pearl type SH prelude. It has 53k on it and is all stock except an AEM short ram and an alpine headunit. It in near perfect shape(tiny scuff on sideskirt and crack in windsheild) which are both gettin taken care of by the dealer. They are askin 16,000 for it and blue book is over 18. Just looking for sum input as to what i should look for on this car and wether this price is good. ANY help is greatly appreciated.

PS, its 5spd and fully loaded minus leather.

you sure you want an sh? if you plan on modding it alot you'd be better off with a base model

I think you should shoot for 14-15k on that car. Other then that do some reading on the oil burning issue that some owners have with their ludes, also read up on the ATTS unit and the added maintanance cost with that unit. Other then that it souds good. Good Luck.

I got my 99 SH w/ 65k on it for 12k with the body in perfect condition, except the headlights were all fogged up. Good luck

sounds like a pretty decent price. i'd ideally want to pay a little less than 16K, 15 would be reasonable.

since you won't be modding much the SH is a good choice. and 5 speed ludes don't really have many issues beyond drinking tons of oil.

have fun!

the atts, that the all wheel steering system right? like i said and as u can see from my SN im very new to honda. I def dont plan on modding much seeing as i just want this car for looks and reliablity. Whats the big deal with modding an SH, whys there a big difference from th Si?

ATTS is honda's electronic answer to an LSD, though it's not reallly the same thing. In a turn, ATTS spins the outside drivewheel up to 15% faster than the inside making the car turn better. It's a decent system imo, though a little heavy in the end compared to a mechanical diff.

The "problem" with ATTS is that it starts to not work when you're putting more than around 250 whp to the ground. it doesn't grenade, but it ceases to function and becomes dead weight.

Fyi: Starting in 97' they dropped the Si badging and the two models are referred to as "base" or "SH".

ATTS is fun if you don't plan on serious mods. I run low boost on my 97' SH and it trips the ATTS check light fairly often because of the extra power.

just the ATTS light or the CEL and the ATTS light?

is the car completely stock?

that light shouldn't be coming on. i'd say it's a pretty powerful bargaining chip. not sure what the problem is though, would need more info about the car.

If the car is/was modified, you might be able to talk them down some more. I personally wouldn't buy a car that I knew was modified because of how most people drive them.

That's just me though.
