Default Does the Std. Civic have a differant hub from the rest?

I've been having quite a time finding the right driveshaft for my gf's 89 Std. Civic. The first one Advance handed me had splines that were way too thick, the new one Carquest handed me looks like the right size, but no amount of banging on the hub is getting it in.

It goes in enough to turn the driveshaft if you turn the brake disc, but not much further. The computers listed a 23 spline and a 26 spline. I'm guessing the one that was too big is the 26 and this smaller one is the 23. What the heck is going on here?

Go back to autozone and get one for a CRX HF. It WILL work on the std.

sometimes on remanufactured axles that i have installed, the spline grooves are kinda mushroomed over at then end that goes into the tranny. if this is the case you are not gonna fit it in. i just use a small file, and file the groove out. hth

It's not like you have to give the old one back right away..bring the old one in to the parts store if you need to.

Simply look at the new one and the old one side by side to compare before you try to put it all back together. Count splines, break out the digital caliper - whatever you have to do!!!

Then and ONLY then will you know it to fit.
