Knocking/Rattling Noise from tranny
Okay, heres the deal. With the cluch engaged, there is a knocking/rattling noise coming from the transmission. With the clutch disengaged (Pedal out), the noise goes away.
Any ideas?

Had the exact problem and it would make a nice noise in the lower gears at slow speeds
Everyone on here said throwout bearing, I swapped it with a new unit and the problem didnt go away, took it to a shop and they said if I changed the TO bearing that it was the imput shaft, gave me a ridiculous quote so I just picked up another SI tranny for $125 and threw it in
Good luck though

Oh sorry I mean

What would rattle when I push the clutch in?
I've searched threads on throwout bearing failures, and from what I have read so far the people with bad throwout bearings expierence the rattle noise with the clutch disengaged, where I make noise with the clutch engaged.
This LS tranny was just put in the car about a month ago after I shot a hole through my old tranny, I'm running a Spec pressure plate and an ACT street/strip clutch.

This could be it also. Imput shaft.............Take it apart and check it out

I remember Kwicko (from the CRX resource, but same sn here) was helping me diagnose a different kind of tranny problem back in the day. He told me he had the same symptoms you're describing and it ended up being a clutch spring loose or broken. Maybe pm him for more details?
Seems like if that were the case, then you'd get all the rattling etc with the clutch pedal depressed since the clutch assembly would be separated from the flywheel, giving it room to get jiggy. Or does that not add up??
