Autozone Rotor users - Read
Thanks to Willard, I love me some $25 Autozone rotors.
I picked up two last night. When I got home and opened the boxes, little puny 10.25" girly rotors were rolling around in the correctly labeled '3296' box which should have had burly 11" type R or Legend Sedan meats in there. WTF?
Go back to the store today. The guy calls the store across town and asks him to measure his '3296s'..... they're 10.25" Hmmm.
My guy calls the distribution center and asks his boy to measure his '3296s'... they're 11". Hmmm.
So their supplier has incorrectly marked some of the goods. Beware. Take your tape measure, or a busted rotor with you and check your chit before you leave!
Oh, and by the way, the price has dropped to $20.99

Yeah, but that's too simple!

Oh yea, something else weird..
Bought brand new rotors for the accord, 2 days of racing, 1 complete crack all the way through the face of one of them. I've seen it happen, but not in 2 days. Pads were not burnt up, no unusual marks on the rotors, not even any little "stress cracks".
Make sure to check the rotors, even if they are brand new. They did replace it, and continued to tell me I had to rebuild my calipers because they were dragging on my "street" car

i know abunch of people who have to change there rotors after every event. But most of them are on heavier cars such as Corvettes Mustangs etc.. I don't know how it is with cars like yours. But most of them have to change out atleast after 2 days of racing if not after a day.
Something similar happened when I got a pair of Autozone rotors a few months ago. The left one was a little shorter and the bolt pattern was off (it was still 5 lug) but the other one was perfect. They were both in identical boxes *shrug*
That autozone was out, so I had to drive to a second to get another correct rotor

definitely open boxes and measure while at the store. i got what i thought was some 11" corrado front rotors for my fastbrakes setup, but when i got home and took them out, they were rears.
WoW! Thanks Allan. Good Eye.
At one point this would have been extremely valuable info to me. I'm sure it helps many others.

Rotors for the "puny 10.25" rotors are down to $13.99

Improper (i.e. none at all) warm up and/or cool down. I did it 3 times last year..... all my fault.

In 2002 I cracked 2 rotors all the way through at CMP. Both were brand new brembos that had been properly bedded with Carbotech XPs.
2625lbs going from over 100 to about 30mph multiple times over 30 minutes is pretty rough on a 10.25" rotor.

I was there with the ITR last year at CMP (new rotors, new pads) - sure, bigger rotor - but I used up 50% of the pads with no other ill effects on a car with more power and was heavier than 2625 with me in it, and I had a passenger in just about every session.
I cracked rotors at Summit and VIR North - warm up/cool down keeps the rotors happy.

Race pace was probably a tad more aggressive.

Possibly, but I probably drove more laps (7-8 sessions over the weekend)

Now that you mention it, I cracked the Autozone rotors on the front of the ITR after that weekend at Shennandoah.

Thats not the killer. The killer is when they stay heated up and don't get a chance to cool for an extended period. A hard 30 minute race at CMP with its multiple HARD braking zones is going to be much tougher than 3 or 4 20 minute DE sessions.
You'll learn this in about 1 year Mr. Future Racer.
Racing is MUCH harder on a car than DE. Learn it Love it Live it.

Yeah. That, as well as not using them excessively like some do.
Thanks for the heads up, Allan

Yep. The only place I ever had issues with the brakes on the GSR was at CMP. You don't really have a choice there. You MUST use them excessively.
On the ITC car we use as much brake pad material at CMP in one weekend than we do in 3 or 4 weekends anywhere else in the SE. Its also the only place that has caused those little rotor stress cracks on the C car.
We started the Road Atlanta weekend with 7mm of pad material. After running a sprint race and a 1.5 hour enduro (with practice and qualifying sessions for each race) we had 6mm of material left.
At CMP we used 3mm of material in just one 2 hour enduro. Same drivers.

Actually, these were 5 lug and 10.25". The set screw holes were not small and beveled, they were almost as big as the lug holes and 'stepped'. Maybe they were 1st gen Odyssey, or perhaps 3rd or 4th gen Accord?
He checked a box of '3295s' just for the heck of it and they were 4 lug 10.25" (GSR, RS I guess).

Probably correct, seeing how morgan like to come in the pits on a hot lap and just park the car.

Tommy: "What my associate is trying to say is that, uh, our new brake pads are really cool. You're not even going to believe it. Like, um, let's say you're driving along the road with your family. And you're driving along la li la. And then, all of the sudden there's a truck tire in the middle of the road. And you hit the brakes. Err! Whoa, that was close. Now let's see what happens when you're driving with the 'other guy's' brake pads. You're driving along. You're driving along and all of the sudden the kids are yelling from the backseat, 'I got to go to the bathroom, daddy!', 'Not now, damn it!', truck tire, eeeee, 'I can't stop!'. Help! There's a cliff! Aah! And your family's screaming 'Oh my god, we're burning alive!'' 'No! I can't feel my legs!'. In comes the meat wagon. And the medic gets out and says, 'Oh , my god.'. New guy's in the corner puking his guts out. All because you want to save a couple of extra pennies. TO me it doesn't..."
