I am finally starting to get the motor back together which really has me excited seeing as the car has been sitting since last September. So far, I have the new crank (balanced, micro-polished and knife-edged), new main and rod bearings in and the crank girdle0thingee in. I bought a set of Type-S cams and was checking the clearances with plasti-guage and I am finding that they are on the outside of the low specs; specs have them from .002-.0035 and I am running about .0015 on the low side on 7 of the 10 journals, meaning they are a bit tight (I am not talking about the lobes, I am talking about the journals on the head where the cams turn on the crank....I forget the technical name). We are using a new digital Snap-On torque wrench so I Am not worried that they are tightened too much. I guess my question is, should I worry about this much of a difference? Does anyone else have where their measurements were when they installed type-S cams (I know some of you guys ahve them...hoping you worte down some measurements!). Anyone know if the cams just running a little bigger than stock? I still have my stock cams, so I might just check to see how those were running and then check the new cams again. I didn't have any problems there originally, so that is why I am not sure what is going on.
Thanks for your help

Getting ready to see what the stock cams do in regards to the plastigauge after dinner. Hoping someone may have some help though, so here's a bump for me!
I've heard of two different people using type s cams, and never had any issues...both were put into obd1 motors...now neither one of them plastiguaged to check for clearances, but they still never had any issues...my only concern would be lubrication...
