Yes you have an ED. All North American 88-91 civic/crx models are stamped ED. The EF is the chassis code for Japan and EE is for Europe. People just refer to them as EF's out of habit and because its jdm yo!

I had a manual transmission in my car before I swapped.

You are correct. I should have mentioned that the euro civic/crx also has EE in the vin as well as the US wagons.
