Also any tips on tuning and what mods really make the ZC respond would be wonderful. I am going to get a DC sports header for it, where from there? without sacrificing the ZC's realiability? Anyone have experience with these motors?

i have a 1991 with a zc. aem short ram intake, and dc sports header. personally ran a 15.9. (first time on the track), but the kid i got it from said he ran a 14.8 in it. keep in mind that i had absolutely no traction from the line. cuz my tires are practically slicks.

different ecu(im using a pm6), zc intake, full cat back exhaust. im swapping in my sohc zc this weekend, and i found a zc intake to go with it, and the guy i bought it from gave me a zc header, he said that's as close to a sports header as you can get. i've got a flowmaster axle back exhaust, and after the swap im gonna trailer it in to a good exhaust shop and tell them its strictly drag so they can make me a 2.5 inch mid-pipe without a catylitic converter. im hoping for high 14's, then a turbo over the winter.

If they were practically slicks, traction would not have been a problem. Your tires are practically bald, therefore you had no traction.

It doesn't matter if everyone knew what you meant. Just because we drive 15 year old cars doesn't mean we need to speak improperly.

New tires and some seat time will definitely bring that time down.

I've owned two zc's so far. One in a 91 4 door and one in an 89 std hatch. The following were the best mods i did that were noticable.

1. pg7 ecu from 88-89 integra
2. webcam regrinds, I had a pair and the car pulled ALOT harder top end, like around 4000 all the way to 7500.

If you plan on getting a dc header for the zc, your going to have to get just a d-series header and port match it. I dont believe they make a header for the zc itself. Just take your stock exhaust manifold gasket from the zc and line it up on the header, you'll see what i mean.

Don't rev it past 7200 if you want it to last.

Lots of smokey oil chugging ZC are common becuase of aftermarket ECU progs that raise or erase the REV LIMIT.

Good suggestions

The ZC ECU (PM7?) worked wonders for me.

I don't see how that was improper speaking. It was just a misused word. However, i believe you meant "balled" when you corrected me, not "bald".

Bald is the correct spelling of the word. If you're going to try and flame, at least make sure YOU'RE correct

A regrind is when you send your stock camshafts in and a company regrinds them so that the lift and duration are bigger. This allows for more power because your valves are opened longer.

Webcam is a place that does it. Here is the website http://www.webcamshafts.com. Go there and check it out and you will see what I mean. Regrinds are the best way to go because performance parts for the zc are hard to come by, especially cams.

Sounds like some wonderful suggestions So far its stock piping but it has a magnaflow muffler...with a simple ebay SR intake, thinking about tellling the guy who owns the car to find a header for it and get a catback exhaust... Next thing we'd go for would probably be ECU upgrades and then a more agressive cams and I'd think that put us around what....14.7?

well, when i got my car it was basically a zc swap with an aem short ram intake, and a ZC ecu from japan (not a chipped or re-mapped american ecu), and the kid i got it from ran a 14.8 in it. i added a dc 4-2-1 2 piece to it, but when i ran my tires were fucked so i ran a 15.9, but on that run i ran against an eg hatch with a b16 (unmodified)and after i finally got some traction i started pulling on him hard, if it had been 1/2 mile race i woulda beat him. so, i dunno. once i get good tires ill let u know what i really run.

I love how everybody gives advice on a motor when they don't even know what it is.

First of all, is this a DOHC ZC or a SOHC ZC????????????????????

What you do to it to make power will be different depending on what motor you have.

Best "Bang for the buck" on a DOHC ZC is a turbo. I had a homeade turbo kit on my first ZC and made 160HP to the wheels on 8PSI. It ran 14.5 at 96 MPH on street tires.

Check these guys outhttp://www.homemadeturbo.com/
