Default Powdercoating stock rims--need advice please

When wheels are powdercoated, are the tire mounting surfaces coated? If so does that cause a sealing problem?

I want to p.c. my CRV stock wheels black to match the car. Does Honda sell powdercoat colors? Can you apply clear coat and make it endure road abuse somehow?

Thanks HT!

theres no sealing issues w/ powdercoating. the whole rim is powdercoated including the tire mounting surfaces. honda doesnt sell powdercoated rims.

It doesnt necessarily have to be ALL powdercoated only the area that you see, I dont see why it would be necessary to do the inside of the rim, at least thats how mine were done. oh and no sealing issues, and no again for honda selling p.c. materials.

How are the base wheels on the G1 CRV's painted? I'm guessing they are painted steel wheels. The paint feels very tough and isn't very smooth. Are you sure this isn't powdercoat?

Are you sure?? Powdercoating is a pretty complicated process, it's not just painting where you can leave the tire on if you want. They have to strip it (usually sandblasting). Stripping isn't required, but recommended. Then it is put thru a machine to charge the rim, then particles of an opposite charge mixed with paint it sprayed onto the rim. Then the rim is superheated.....I'm sure there's more in the process, but I'm sure a tire being on the rim wouldn't work.

Sorry, not meaning to flame or anything....just letting you know.
