I'm thinking about doing it instead of a 4.929 ATS. Opinions's
I've got the Cusco 5.0. I like it personally cuz most of my driving is city driving. If you do a lot of highway driving, you may want to consider the 98 spec JDM 4th and 5th.
FYI, 4th gear with 3K rpm, you will have about 60km/hr.

I've heard of the Cusco unit breaking, but I'm not sure. No first hand experience here.
Just do a 4.92 and some smaller diameter tires if you need a 5.00 that badly.
I have 195/50/15 tires w/ a 4.92 on my integra, and I think the tires make it 4.96 or so...

I've heard of the breakage issue with Cusco also, although like Mike I dont have personal experience with them.
I would use the ATS 4.929 FD, and a 205/50 tire and you should be at almost 5.0

99-00 Si trannies have a 4.4 FD. The helms manual is wrong.
The Helms may be wrong, but the Honda parts catalog computer is not.
The SI has a 4.226, not a 4.400. Si takes the same part number for the ring gear as the 94+ Integra LS.
TypeRmsm: 195/50R15 is smaller diameter than 205/50R15. I think he'll be in the 4.95 area with 205/50R15 tires.

I'm almost wishing I had done cusco 5.0 instead of ats 4.929, but the difference isn't significant enough for me to change now...
Maybe if u got rid of thouse spec b's u might get some low end back... I know some one who will take thouse pos b's off your hands

I've got enough low end..... Way more than any jun-boy. Wait till I post my latest graph! Jaws will drop, I assure you.
Who carries the Cusco 5.0? Or better yet, who's the authorized dealer of Cusco in US? And FD should fit USDM no problem right?
All I can say is that if you do ANY kind of freeway driving then I would have to say don't get it. My friend has a JDM Final drive with a GSR 5th gear on his Type R and at 80 or so he is already at 4.4k.

I have a JDM ITR tranny right now so I do have the 4.785 (99% sure). When i do the final drive I'll know positively then.
So more people are for the Cusco then not

My friend is using the Cusco 5.0 FD in his R and it didn't really help him much when road racing at the track. It will help you some in drag racing if you can control the wheelspin in 1st with a 5.0!. I'm using JDM 4.785FD in a USDM ITR tranny, and it's more than plenty for me. In combination with my Spoon flwheel and Knife-edged crank it helped my acceleration quite a bit, and 4.785 is good for my road racing needs. But ATS is the Sh*t!! Just think of what u do mostly? road racing? drag? daily? I wouldn't go more than the Spoon 4.857 is u plan on using USDM tranny and keeping your 4th and 5th gear. Then again, if you hardly go on the highway, then ATS 4.929 is the way to go!

That should mean he's doing about the same amount of revs as a stock ITR.

Yeah, 80mph is 4.2-4.4k rpm anyway in a stock R. I would personally not put in a GSR 5th w/ JDM FD.

Just out of curiosity, what would a R run at 80 in 5th without the GSR gear?
