Do you have a 1997-2001 Prelude with a BAD TRANSMISSION? Read this! Very important!
If you're going to swap out your 1997-2001 Prelude AUTO transmission I need a piece off the old transmission!
It's called the "2nd clutch pressure switch"
I circled it in the picture!

The dealer is trying to charge $250 for the WHOLE assembly which I don't need!
I'm just trying to buy it for cheap, please help me out.

No they haven't.
00-01 trannies have been given a 100k warranty. Good luck if you have mods on the car.

Is this extended warranty on transmissions (manual and auto) true for 00-01? Was this part of the certified deal? or is this for all Hondas Preludes.
Can someone post a link to it at all? Is there an official press release or Technical Note from Honda?
So it's only good for Automatics - bleh.

Our family owns a 97 Prelude and had to rebuild it for 2200.00 in 2003.....still a bad tranny, and appears 4 electronic solinoids(sp.) are the issue. The shop that rebuilt it had successfully rebuilt other transmissions for us over the years, including. gm, Volvo, etc. They were highly critical of the Honda design, and said they were surprised it had not been recalled! We recently left the car, for a month, a another reputable trans. shop....they could not find anything wrong...car still shifts rough, and is a constant headache! Honda needs to take care of all the Prelude owner transmission problems, or lose those customers forever!
In Aug. 1996 Honda issued a TSB addressing transmission replacement on 1989 to 1997 models.....it is very obvious they knew they had a major problem! The question is....WHY NO RECALL???
They instruct the dealers not to spend time tearing apart the transmissions, but to pull and send for replacement...I assume from Howard Engineering!

Most likely it is simply a TSB on how to remove a transmission, unless you can provide the actual TSB I see no reason to jump to conclusions that a simple removal/replacement technical bulletin would equate to 'junk transmissions'. If they issued it in '96 then 'earlier models such as '90 would probably have some serious mileage on and in need of rear main seal replacement. Which requires trans removal to replace, nothing sinister.
90-97 Accords, 92-96 Preludes and 94-97 Ody used the stout H4A automatic trans. Early 90-91 Accords did have an issue with the TCUs caps/resistors failing, but the trans itself is a robust unit.
The later 4spd autos used in 98-02 Accords, 98-02 Ody and (97?)98-01 Preludes was the glass jaw M6HA, similar looking but a different beast with added pressure switches and two additional shift solenoids.
Little known fact, unless a manufacture has a proper fix for a given issue, there will be no recall.
That goes for most items on a car at a dealership. Parts are rarely rebuilt, parts are unbolted and bolted back together. Transmissions are replaced, along with engines, and any other rather large components. Seal replacement is common, but not a full on rebuild.
