Re-stamped Block
I just went and looked at a GSR block. When I got there I looked at it and noticed it was stamped b16a2. The guy said his friend had it re-stamped so people would think it was a b16 instead of a b18c. But on the back of the engine there is a p72 stamp. The b16a2 stamp looks perfect just like it would from the factory as does the p72 on the back, but the p72 isn't indented like the front code but raised up. What do you guys think? Is this a GSR block?
Could very possibly be a stolen/recovery. Maybe it was stolen, then recovered, then auctioned off by the insurance co... If the stamp looks genuine then just buy the damn thing if its at a good price...

I can't believe how many here are willing to buy stolen items. It is easy to say the deed is done, but if your car is the one got stolen, don't come crying in HT and whine about it.
Report to the police and at least do some investigation.

ive seen one of these before. If it has p72 raised up on the back ita a gsr only way tp get raised letters is by a cast. And it doesn't matter what he says its stolen. Dont u think a theif would pay 100 bucks to get it stamped if he could turn around and sell it for more? Im just saying if you buy it they will just be out looking for a new car to rob.
now that is interesting actually. If the VIN number on the block was restamped then yes it would more than likely be stolen. However you say that only the code has been restamped, which doesn't really mean much as far as stealing is concerned. A question that I thought of is: why the hell would you want someone to think you have a B16 instead of a B18? That just seems a little strange.
Picture it: Your parked up at a cruise, get an invitation to race, he checks out your motor, sees is a B16, knows his B18 can beat you so puts a large bet on, only to loose it to you and your "b16" hehe
