It's a chassis designation. Same thing as 993, 996, 997 Porsche 911, or E30, E36, and E46 3 series. BB# is the chassis code for the 4th gen and 5th Gen. BB1 is the US VTEC Prelude, BB2 is the Si Prelude, BB4 is the JDM Prelude, and BB6 is the 5th gen.
4th Gen Prelude S was a different chassis code. I forgot what it is now. My guess is BA8..but not positive.
