Default Civic Si faster than cav, sunfire,tc,celica?

do you all know if an EP3 is actually faster than most current compact cars in its class, like say the cavalier, sunfire, toyota tc or base celica, and other such cars? is 19.150 a good price for a brand new Si or can they be found cheaper else where

like the pirelli ads say, power is nothing without control. i think the si handles better and is far more refined than most in it's class.

19.125 is high for an si.

Not to mention everything is higher quality. I can live with th interior of my Civic, but I'd tear my hair out driving a Cavalier or Sunfire everyday.

Hi,

new here ...

I have never driven the other cars, except cavalier. Personally, the only contender is Celica and TC. I like mine a lot, a bit underpower for me. It's pretty fast for sub 20K cars (new), but not that fast one.

I got mine in 2002 for 18000 out the door. Good luck finding one, used ones go around $12K, may be less

the base model rsx, which has the same (almost) motor as the ep3 can surpass the straight line performance of a celica gt-s and a scion tc. i am speaking through personal experience only.

My friend is in the market for a SI and when we went to the dealership to check some 05's out, the dealer must have been really interested in getting a sale, because he offered to sell the car for 15g.

Anyways, I rather have a base RSX over an SI, and the TC's look nice. Overall all are descent cars for the price, and I'd be content with any of them.

Your kidding right? I use to own a celica GT-S and bone stock I did a 14.9 at 94 mph. Also, if you go and take a look at http://www.newcelica.org you will see a few people have run 14.7s bone stock, and a large amount are low 14s or even high 13s with just intake, header, exhaust, and a PowerFC. You may be confusing the GT-S model with the lower GT model. A Celica GT-S runs neck and neck with the RSX-S, its just all about the driver in that car. So consider your self informed, and please don't spread lies or speak of things that you know nothing about Thanks

EDIT: I also just wanted to make it clear that I have nothing against EP3s, Infact, I like them so much that I convinced my bro to buy one, so I'm not here to bash, just to keep facts straight

Speaking for strait line performance only:
Cav/Sunfire>EP3
Cav/Sunfire> TC
Cav/Sunfire> Celica Gt
Celica GTS> all above, But at $20K

And out of all of those the cheapest would be the cavalier or sunfire. 5spd of course.

Handling: the cav/sunfire would get worked, but having a <$10K (NEW) sunfire pull away from a $20K car sucks. :D

Really ? at least the same, not >> EP3

If so, I really need to get a new job or promoted.

sorry dude. i forgot to add that he had an automatic.

also, i do not stand corrected. please do not say that i shouldn't speak of things i don't know about. i clearly said in my previous post that i was speaking from personal experience, as in an actual side by side race.

we should also keep in mind that all drivers have a different level of experience. because i had driven 2 years more than he had, i had more experience launching, which led me to my victory. if i had gone against a manual celica gt-s with an experienced driver, i probably would have lost.

thanks for the clearinng up though! no hard feelings right?

Yea its cool Like I said I like EP3s. I also loved my Celica until this boner in a lifted pickup rear ended it and actually got ON TOP OF IT. But its just a really really really underestimated car. So when I see a post about a stock 89 crx HF beating one by 7 bus lengths, I just like to go in and let people know that they beat the driver and not the car. So yea its cool man

the only way a cavy or sunfire will beat an ep3, is if the driver of the ep3 has no arms.

It was close. But the 04 fire took the ep3 out. If ya want a timeslip i'll post it up. 15.7 vs 15.9. Otherwise, you don't know what you are talking about. And your car is slow.

Ok so you bring up one race to show that ALL EP3's will loose to a sunfire.... so the EP3 in your race ran a 15.9?.... Im pretty sure EP3's can run faster than high 15's

Anything is possible depending on the driver

I like to think that my ep3 will give all of the mentioned cars a solid run for their money.

All ep3's with intake, header and exhaust. 85 mph trap speed and 2.3 60'
Me: 2.2L ecotec. Intake, exhaust. 140 hp ownage. Oh, 2.29 60' with shitty 5 year old G.Y. rsa's. And 88 mph trap speed.

The track also makes a big difference. One track you can run faster because of temp, track prep, wind, humidity, ect. So someone might be able to run mid 15's at one trap but at another only be able to pull a 15.9.

hmm. . . when my ep3 had only a crush bent midpipe for a mod (stock all-season michelins, stock wheels, stock EVERYTHING) I pulled an 88.19mph trap with a 2.359 60ft.

stock v.s. stock, the cavalier & ep3 are close - this really only applies to the base model cavaliers b/c they are so light. The higher trim ones are a bit slower due to the added weight.

Not sure what the track conditions are in atlanta. Cause that makes a big difference in time and speed.

And there's only going to be at most a difference of 100 lbs depending on trim level.

Yes the Ep3 and Cav/sunfire are VERY close. A drivers race with the advantage for the Cav/fire.

There are other faster compact cars. Like the lancer ralliart, impreza 2.5 RS, the new focus zx4(?), sentra spec v, etc
