Basically my friend and i were driving, me 98 prelude, him 2005 g35, around this blind turn, and there was a cop pulling over someone else right so you couldnt see it. We were going literally around 50 - 55 mph in a 40 so we were going excessively fast. So my friend slows down, then slamms on his brakes and i just thought he was slowing down then i hit him about 30mph or less.

Fenders, bumper, grill, radiator leaking, my cf hood crumbled into a piece of paper, both headlights looking like the glass broken after a jewish wedding. My engine bay looks fine minus the radiator and i think my cai is fucked but mainly body work is needed. My friend's g35....well the exhaust sounds cracked and the bumper just needs to be replaced, i got owned basically.

Back to the part where I need help with, I might as well get a body kit, fenders etc. How might i go on dealing with the insurance company that way, and would they pay for aftermarket parts?

Second, the cool nerdy crash investigator cop we talked to said we could make a case against the 2 ******* cops because they pulled someone over in an unsafe area, and not to mention my car almost got hit a million times by oncoming cars. The tow truck guy literally ran for his life because he thought a car was going to hit him. Any suggestions?

were the two cops in your lane? if not, then i don't see how you can make a case out of that...cops can pull over anyone, anywhere (most places), at anytime if they have their lights on. As far as fixing the cars, it will probably cost more to fix your friend's g35 than your lude. Did you have an aftermarket bumper, fenders, etc. before the accident? If not, then No, the insurance will not replace it with a bodykit. They will only replace it with stock oem parts. If your deductible is pretty high, i wouldn't bother reporting it (if your friend is okay with it) because your premium might go up.

 

Actually if the insurance company considers it a "total"....then you could just request a check AND keep the car....here's how:

First....they'll offer you a certain amount for the vehicle.....maybe around 5000 unless your air bags are out( - 2000).

Second.....have then talk with the salvage yard to see how much they would sell the vehicle for (mine was $600).....

Third.....tell them you want to keep the car and get a check.....so they'll take the

projected amount - salvage yard sale = your check

My check came to $2400. Use that to buy a new radiator support and what not....and buy a bodykit......get a good body guy to put everything on......i think it'll work out. Mine did....but of course I had state farm.....they only offered me 2,995 for my vehicle because the air bags were popped....thats an automatic $2,000 deduction......hopefully you still have air bags....

Note: This will ONLY work if the car is considered a total.....damage = +25% of the value

If they do consider it a total, another option would be taking the check and doing a motor swap to a hatch......
