we have a Kawasaki 550 mated to a VW karma ghia front end. It's a 2 seater.

If you want i'll get pictures. My dad got it for free from the guy that built it. I know there is a real name for it but i can't think of it right now.

Actually a compagny in Montreal (Canada) build them,
the compagnie is named Campagna
and the model is : T-Rex.

it's a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 mated to a custom front end,
it rip pretty bad actually, you can do donut's like nothing and it does accelerate pretty quick.

do a search on google, you'll find plenty of them.

A British company Morgan made trikes like that back in the 1930's

yeah those t-rex's are pretty cool. I have been kicking around the idea of making something like what is being talked about.

the t-rex is really $$$$ though. if had the money i'd get one, but i think I would rather make one for alot cheaper.

Well the trick would be to use an entire Honda drivetrain and mate it to a single rear wheel. The hard part is styling... it would be very hard to cover up the engine so it doesn't look goofy. If that were possible it would be pretty cool. The usual 3-wheeler drives the rear tire so they always have traction issues. Imagine a FWD version, it would get tons of traction, and with a custom frame weigh about 1/3 that of a normal Honda. Imagine three times the power-to-weight ratio with just a stock drivetrain. But like I said it all comes down to styling.

Oh and the typical worry about "won't it tip over?" is unwarranted with decent track width and low CG.

kb58, the thought would be more of a 1kcc cycle motor.

Same points apply. The problem with the bike is, no reverse. Quaife makes a really cool center diff for bike-powered cars, but it's $3200. Putting that at the front would have a lot of benefits over driving the single rear as said before. Again, it's a real problem to style well.

not so much a problem to me, itd be almost just like a bike, in the no reverse sense. just may be alittle difficult in parking lots, lol.. not a daily though anyways.

i dont understand what you mean hard to style...seems simple in my head. just like the pic on your site for future projects?
care to go into more detail?

there's another indy type cycle that uses a bike with electric reverse. This is the whole reason why i need to learn how to weld.

i believe it's a 550 Kawasaki. It hasn't moved in years but from what i remember it was fairly quick. It's built like crap and way too heavy. My dad always claimed he was just going to take it apart and turn it back into a motorcycle but we just never got around to it.

If it wasn't free i would be embarassed to own it. Even so, i think it was a waste of time to drag it home.

If you made it FWD, with the engine up front driving both front tires.

It's hard to integrate without it looking dumb. The thing would be a beast for acceleration though since most 3-wheelers drive only the back tire. Plus driving the back tire mean it leans in a turn, destroying most grip. If it were FWD you can get around that.
