Default how to match the blue plastic interior

Yeah, i know, everyone hates the blue interior.

I don't

What I hate is that I can't get accessories for it for anything. (On the flip side, no one touches the blue interio pieces at the salvage yard, so I get first call on them).

I can order the audio console, but only find it in black (found one in brown once... it was horrendous). I can find the Teg center console (with armrest, cupholders, etc) but not in blue.

So, I have decided to just get the off color and spray it blue. I'm afraid, however, that the blue won't match.

Will that Krylon plastic spray paint match my blue interior? if not, does anyone know a way to match the blue interior color?

Embrace the blue foo...

u can find blue accessories. (i got a few 4 sale) but dont expect to find much. i just found blue rear speaker pods for the sedan ( thx again exvoto )

if nothing else go into home depot and color-match to a swich blank. and see if they have that in a spray a word on caution though paint dosent like to stick to our dashes andor plastic parts.

I can always use that adhesion promotor to help make it stick. I wonder what the hell Krylon uses for it's plastic spray can that makes it stick so well.

The DA center consoles aren't what us 4g guys need. We need the DC (94+) center consoles.

As far as matching your interior color..spray paint is never going to look even remotely close.

Take it to an upholstery shop and have a professional dye it.

Yeah, from what I hear, the upholstery shop is the way to go.
BTW: if anyone is selling a DC center console, please PM me!

i have two of the pieces you are looking for i believe. it the trim that you fit the radio and temp controls into that also has the ashtray right? Let me know, they are just collecting dust in a cabinet in my house, the wife will be glad to see them gone.

and price, just give me best offer

What we are looking for fits below the radio/HVAC controls. It's completely seperate from that section. What you're describing sounds like the stock piece.

I'm off to the dealer now to see if they can do a parts locator on it.

no, I sure don't.

I've never been able to find a Honda site that lists the OEM part #; they only list their own numbers. It's very frustrating.

Well that was uneventful. I drive up, park my girl's faded 87 CRX Si next to the new S2000 with a sign that says, "Reserved for Parts Manager."

I ask about the console. "What color?" She asks. I get my hopes up. I reply with, "Bluuu," and before I can finish I get cut off.

"That part is discontinued, we can't offer it."

"But can't you do a parts locator and find someone who does?"

"Nope. It didn't even give me a part number."

"What do you recommend I do?"

"Go to a junkyard.'

So once again, I am told to go to a junkyard.

Oh well. At least Don is sending me the black one sometime soon. Maybe I'll be able to dye it and makeit match.

How did it not give her a part number?

I bet I can get at least a part number from my local dealer. I'll see what I can do.

i've gotten good results painting plastic by liberally cleaning them with brake cleaner first. it dries the oils from the surface, giving the paint something to grab to. this isn't very good for the plastic, and it's probably not as good as that plastic paint, but i've had good results with it.

Good idea. I'm planning on going to Home Depot tomorrow to attempt to color match the paint from the blue interior. If I luck out I'll get a match and have it finished tomorrow. I'll use brake cleaner on it first, then adhesion promotor, and then I'll paint the sucker.
